Maja Salvador Cements Reign as TV5 Queen as She Signs Another Contract

“Darating rin ang araw nasa first page na ako, bida na ako,” Maja Salvador casually told DJ Chacha, the media conference host, with a twinkle in her eye. April 5 proves to be a very lucky date for the Kapatid star who can be touted as the new queen of TV5, the Majestic Superstar. 2022 and 2023 will be surefire busy years for her, as she renewed her contract with TV5 and Cignal Entertainment.

On the same day last year was the very first episode of Niña Niño, an ongoing comedy-drama series starring her and theater darling Noel Comia Jr. The series is a record breaker, which proves that Maja Salvador can hold her own on any network. Recognized internationally, the show bagged top plums at the prestigious 2021 Asian Academy Creative Awards. Niña Niño was hailed as Best Drama Series and Maja was named Best Actress of the Year by the international award giving institution.

Niña Niño also joined Netflix Philippines’ roster in December 2021 and instantly became one of the most streamed Netflix programs, remaining on the Top 10 list several weeks after it was launched. As the show approaches its riveting season finale in the coming weeks, expect no less than a heart-tugging ending to the inspiring story of Niña (Maja) and Niño (Noel Comia Jr.) and the whole community of Sitio Sta. Ynez whom viewers have grown to love.

She got her wish to be able to write on the front page of the attendance sheet and unlike her character Niña, she was a faithful and hardworking lady who does not need a miracle, for she has obviously worked hard so that aside from being on page one, container boxes used during the show also bears her name. For the context, she recalls that sometimes, projects are untitled and the name of the main star is written on those, “like John-Lloyd Bea movie”, she specified.

Maja confirmed that she will be starring in a sitcom, which her own entertainment company, Crown Artist Management, will line produce. She will also be doing another series on the Kapatid network co-produced by Cignal Entertainment. One can speculate that this might be in the action-thriller genre, since the film in the same vein, Arisaka, was well-received. She also mentioned that this will not be her usual role and she will be having special training.

In this contract signing and grand press event held at the TV5 Studio last April 5, Maja officially sealed new project deals with Cignal Entertainment and TV5, in the presence of Cignal and TV5 President and CEO Robert P. Galang, with Crown Artist Management Chief Executive Officer Rambo N. Ortega and Chief Operating Officer Mikki Gonzalez. Her supportive but lowkey parents were also present and were two rows behind this writer.

“Maja Salvador’s versatility as an actress, host, judge, and overall performer has made her a perfect fit for all the projects she has done for and with the Network in the past year. We are honored and proud of all her achievements and we look forward to seeing her transform yet again as she reinvents herself in the upcoming projects that she will be doing with us soon,” Galang shared.

Maja’s upcoming ventures will undoubtedly excite fans, but for now, they can watch the award-winning series Niña Niño, which airs on TV5 every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after Sing Galing and before FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
