Yasmien Returns Anew Via Las Hermanas

If Yasmien Kurdi’s showbiz career were a person, she would have had her debut this year. The petite and hardworking mestiza blossomed to be one of the most dependable Kapuso TV drama headliners. You would not imagine that 2 decades ago she found penetrating into show business challenging as she usually didn’t hear from the VTR auditions she went to.

She even encountered a “prelaunch” Bea Alonzo during on of those. Now they work for the same network.

Her character Dorothy Manansala, is a big sister who shouldered the responsibility of also acting as a parent to her two younger sisters when both their mom and dad died. The role was offered to her and Yasmien is excited since this is her first time playing the role of a big sister, since she was either a dutiful daughter or a dutiful wife in many of her previous roles.

In her 2019 series Beautiful Justice, the plot centered on the loved ones of PDEA operatives getting revenge for a bloody encounter. This time, it’s a family drama which centers on women embracing their frailties and guiding each other to be better versions of themselves.

Her costars are Faith da Silva (Scarlet), who will be launched via this drama, Jennica Garcia (Brenda), who also have just returned to TV drama since her last support role was in 2014, and Thea Tolentino (Minnie), who will play a nice and gentle lady for a change.

Seasoned actor Albert Martinez plays Lorenzo, who is the rich businessman and the source of the Manansala siblings’ arguments, while seasoned theater thespian Madeleine Nicolas plays the Manansala grandmother, who helps guide them. Jason Abalos is Gabriel, Dorothy’s boyfriend who has different principles.

The series is helmed by directors Monti Parungao and Patrick Ferrer. You can watch it starting this Monday, October 25, as part of the GMA Afternoon Prime lineup. Las Hermanas replaces Nagbabagang Luha which comes after the Eat Bulaga timeslot.
