PeekUp, A New Ride-Hailing App Prioritizes Safety and Comfort
The idea for PeekUp, the newest ride hailing-app in the country primarily owned by Dave Almarinez, started a year ago. His current business partner as well as CFO (Chief
Financial Officer), Jayson Chua, phoned him back then and posited the idea of a ride-hailing app so they can give “magandang services and better choices” to their fellow
Filipinos.
So, why the name “PeekUp”? “Everything is about the experience. Yung peek, para kang sumilip, so smooth,” said Almarinez. The premier 100% Filipino-owned ride-hailing app
company is aiming for smooth rides. It has 4-seater as well as 6-seater vehicles available. Affordability as well as passenger safety are prioritized. Focus is also on the
comfort of senior citizens, PWDs, and students, as well as assuring they get the appropriate discounts they are entitled to.
10 months was the time it took for the app to be fully realized. Almarinez reiterated that aside from Chua, there are other business partners involved who are already
seasoned transport industry players.
His goal for the technology company was to expand not just all over the Philippines, but also worldwide. Presently, it services Manila but will soon be available in some
areas of Laguna and Bulacan. “Di ba ang sarap n’yo na binubook n’yo eh from the Philippines, designed and made by Filipinos,” he asked.
The app was available for download starting April 30 when it was launched at the SM Mega Fashion Hall atrium. Primary endorsers Paulo Avelino, Cristine Reyes, and
Ara Mina graced the event.
PeekUp currently has 1,000 driver-partners and 6,000 incoming ones. Their goal is to get a million users by 2025.
