In 1679, the Jesuits took control of the church in place of the town of Baras. By 1697, the Augustinians became its guardians, and it returned to the Franciscans in 1737.

The present church was built between 1792 and 1800, with repairs in 1853.

The church was destroyed during the Philippine-American War in 1899 and then occupied by American forces in 1900-1903 and converted into a base.

Dedicated to Santa Ursula, the church is distinguished by the historic retabillo located on the edge of the chapel, contributing to its unique beauty. In recognition of its enduring heritage, a historic marker was erected to celebrate the parish’s 400th anniversary in 2021.
