2nd Philippine LEAF Awards Press Launch Announces Deadline Extension and Awardees for Beacon of Culture and Arts

The much-anticipated 2nd edition of the Philippine LEAF Awards was preceded by the recently concluded press conference held last December 2, 2023, which revealed the major updates for the upcoming “LEAF Tertulia at Parangal 2024.” The press conference was held at the Manila Clock Tower Museum in Manila.

“The LEAF Tertulia at Parangal 2024 is not just any ordinary awards ceremony. It will celebrate the best in Philippine Culture and the Arts — Past, Present, and Future. True Filipino Artists will be an integral part of this grand event,” emphasized LEAF Founder and Head Juror for Music, Frank G. Rivera. Rivera shared the stage with current LEAF President, esteemed TV and live events director, CJ Andaluz, who also serves as the Creative and Managing Director of Pixel Art Media Production Company.

Important individuals from Filipino culture and the arts were included on the panel, such as Mr. Ibarra Mateo, the head juror for theater, Dr. Lordinio Vergara, the head juror for dance, and Atty., legal counsel for LEAF. Elba Cruz and Ms. Riel Andaluz, Save The Children Philippines’ Senior Manager for Corporate Partnerships.

The announcement was made during the press conference that the 2nd Philippine LEAF Awards nomination deadline has been extended until December 10, 2023. With this addition, exceptional people and organizations can now participate more widely in the live entertainment, performing arts, fashion, and festivals categories.

Aside from this, the event introduced the recipients of the prestigious “Beacon for Culture and Arts Award.” The esteemed awardees include National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, former NCCA Chairman and CCP President Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, Cong. Christopher “Toff” De Venecia, Halili-Cruz School of Dance Artistic and Creative Director Dr. Shirley Halili-Cruz, and Gov. Susan Yap of the Provincial Government of Tarlac. These are people who have made a lasting impression on the culture and arts sector by their governance, advocacy, and initiatives. These individuals have shown exceptional leadership and innovation.
