Organized by Shaped Women Org (SWO) and presented by 2 Lives Creatives and Digital Silver Lining, the all-female exhibit featuring the creations of celebrities and fashion designers runs from May 23 to 28 at the Shangri-la Plaza Mall.
‘Journey of Wonder Women: Empowering Thru Creativity and Style’ is a tribute to the exceptional skills and strength of females in the fields of fashion and visual arts, which is a reflection of the SWO’s dedication to female empowerment and artistic expression.
Zara Carbonell hosted the event and a couple of the artists gave speeches before the crowd at the East Wing of Shangri-la Plaza, like one of SWO’s founding members Mari Zhar, as well as Andrea del Rosario of ‘Dirty Linen’. Zarina Krishna entertained the audience with her moving songs.
The exhibit featured a captivating collection of paintings using mixed media art, and fashion designs, exploring themes. Designers Ms. Jolaida Niccolai, Ms.
Amandah Jazz, Ms.
Maricris Dela Pena Slodysko and Ms.
Elsie Delos Reyes exhibited the classic-modern empowered Filipina fashion; while
Gin Villamayor,
Kaye Moralesand
Sasa Abarentos displayed the more avant garde fashion. Both guests and passersby couldn’t stop raving about
Zarina Krishna, who was the youngest celebrity artist during that event. Along with her superb performance of the song, She Used to Be Mine from the Waitress, her artwork evoked strong emotions in spectators.
Similar to how VIPs and dignitaries inspected the magnificent pregnant women artworks led by Ms. Mari Zhar, who wants to be known more as a wire and clay sculptor, and motif visual artist; Ms.
Lotlot De Leon‘s landscape paintings also gave everyone a glimpse of her journey. As amazing as the art composition of Ms.
Evangeline Pascual, whose art seemed to be like a poem on canvas.
Pam Diel ethnic inspired paintings also captivated a market during that run. The most viewed wall during the exhibit was also that of Ms.
Shelly Vargas Calvo as she displayed a series of Four Seasoned Women , which spoke of elegance, realization, purity, and strength. And as expected, fine arts graduate Ms.
Andrea Del Rosario also displayed an amazing series of four paintings that spoke of women embracing culture. Indeed the all women exhibition ignited conversations, and challenged conventional notions of beauty and femininity.
Ms. Marga Peralta advised all boys to remember that women are also persons just like them during her opening remarks, especially all the mothers out there, which she emphasized in her introduction. Even mothers who give the impression that everything is simple, even they weary easily. They also require care and fixing. She stated how a real empowered woman empowers women.
Shaped Women Org. made the decision to organize these kinds of events meant to highlight the abilities of Filipina women from all over the world who work in a variety of fields and private departments. According to Women Empowerment and Human Rights advocate, Celebrity Writer and Artist, Ms. Mari Zhar, was well applauded as she gave her inspirational speech as she imparts that in a society where women are supposed to be broken and made to be oppressed, she strongly urges all women to band together and defend one another. She spoke passionately how her motherhood journey moved her to be an advocate for Women Empowerment, Equality and Equity: “
Being an advocate allows me to set the bar for my children. For my son to learn to value and respect women all the more. And for my daughters to remember their rightful places in this world, and learn the importance of standing up, and fighting for what she strongly believes in.”
Mayor
Jasmin Maligaya-Bautista of Magallanes, Cavite also shared her motherhood journey after suffering from APAS and PICOS during her pregnancies. And now mothering the whole town of Magallanes, Cavite. She spoke humbly of how a young Mayor like her, still needs people esp women to help nurture and nourish citizens of her town. Sec.
Benhur Abalos of DILG graced the event during the culminating event on its last day, he saw to it that one of SWO guests, Ms. Bella Vargas got a photo and an apolitical chit chat up close and personal. And though he came in a little later after the closing program, he went around to congratulate producers, and participating artists and made known his support to Shaped Women Org.
JOURNEY OF WONDER WOMEN is not merely an exhibition; it is a platform for dialogue and inspiration. Alongside the stunning visual displays, the exhibit was well supported by sponsors who were also quick to jump in to make the event possible. The
