Dra. Minguita Padilla on Toni Fowler and Alternative to Fowls
Dra. Minguita Padilla is suddenly a “hot pick” as a senatoriable since her commendable performance during the SMNI debate. Her soft-spoken voice and calm demeanor is a total contrast to her hard-hitting answers, my favorite being her easily understandable explanation of why Russia attacked Ukraine because of their possible NATO alliance, which is because Ukraine is beside Russia and would have put Russia in a disadvantageous position, in case they go to war with the United States.
So, it didn’t suprise me that she gave a straight answer when asked if Toni Fowler, a Filipino influencer, went overboard with her new fox eyes cosmetic surgery. “There’s such a thing as over-over plastic surgery…there’s something wrong with…may psychological ano na, many of these people who do the cosmetic surgery,” she explained.
Of course, Dra. Padilla is one of the perfect people to ask, not because she has a Youtube channel herself, but the 62-year-old senatoriable has been President and CEO of the Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines since its conception in 1995. Yes, she has been leading a vital institution in our country for almost 3 decades already.
One of first things she would do if ever she gets elected is to immediately convene a Joint Oversight Committee, so that the Universal Healthcare Act can finally be implemented.
She is also set on uplifting the agriculture in our country. ‘A country that cannot supply its own food will be vulnerable,” she said, pertaining to the war. She wants the Philippines to stop import mentality and be self-sufficient. She thinks the rice tariffication law must either be repealed or amended, since it’s just burdensome to the farmers.
She wants farmers to be protected from smugglers and for the latter to be punished, citing that what they are doing is economic sabotage.
She acknowledges that there is an alternative to meat from fowl or the usual, to help the food shortage in the country. That would be for the government to support rabbit farming, alligator farming, and even raising field mice to eat. She cites an existing barangay micro-enterprise law that actually allows ppeople to put up businesses in their backyard and to enjoy the benefit of no income tax as long as they are accredited.
Truly, the veteran eye doctor whose roots lie in Lingayen know so much of the world around her that is outside of her profession, so she will be an asset to the Senate.
