MMFF 2021 Entry ‘Nelia’ Grand Presscon Also Serves as A nd Q Productions Launching

Nurses play important supporting roles in film and TV series, especially if an important character has some hospital scenes. There are some materials with a nurse as the main character like Ratched, Misery, Youth of May, Rear Window, etc. In Nelia, the MMFF 2021 entry with Winwyn Marquez as the titular character, things are not what they seem and even Nelia can’t be trusted.

This maiden venture by A and Q Films Productions is the brainchild of one of its founders, Atty. Melanie Honey Quiño. She wrote the script 15 years ago while she was still a student and they revised it to fit with the current era. She built the company ground up with Atty. Aldwin Alegre in January 2020.

“We never thought that our first sull length film would make it as one of the finalists of MMFF. We are deeply grateful to the MMFF for this opportunity and hopefully, this will be the beginning of A and Q Film Production’s continuous creation of more films that could provide comfort, joy, and lessons to Filipino viewers,” said Atty. Alegre.

Even though the film has not been shown yet, there have already been talks with international partners to make a sequel. It will have guaranteed cinemas from Dec. 25 to January 7 and if it does well in the box office, we will be looking forward to watch Nelia for a longer period of time.

Winwyn also announced that she was in her second trimester of pregnancy and the press people present during the grand presscon held last December 18, 2021 at the City of Dreams Grand Ballroom were both elated and surprised. This confession as prompted when a reporter asked why she is glowing and if there are good things happening to her aside from the film.

Nelia also starts veteran and promising actors: Raymond Bagatsing, Mon Confiado, Ali Forbes, Shido Roxas, Juan Carlos Galano, and many more.

The main thrust of A and Q Films Productions is to  produce educational films for use ins chools during the pandemic. Moving forward, whether they profit from this film or not, they plan to take the leap and produce more films, with the possibility of showcasing them in the international market.
