Eurotel Scholarships Aid PLMFI Students
After the pandemic caused schools to close, schools in some corners of the world are reopening, but the Philippines is still closing classes due to the COVID-19 crisis. In this way, education is no exception. This disaster has exposed the shortcomings and prejudices in our education system. If the pandemic has taught us another lesson, it is the importance of education.
Fortunately, there are still some private companies that give priority to helping children and young people receive education, just like Eurotel Hotel. Through the personal experience of Mr. EdmundoG. Russ, the director of Eurotel Hotels, they are sponsoring 10 students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila Scholars Foundation, Inc. (PLMSFI) for 2020-2021.
“As part of our corporate social responsibility program, we at Eurotel Hotel are happy to provide these students with the opportunity to learn and grow during the pandemic to help. We believe that education is not only an important part of a person’s growth, but also a An important part of the growth of responsible Filipinos. I hope they will not forget our simple gesture and learn to share with others as much as possible.” Mr. Ed Las shared.
Despite the current pandemic, Eurotel Hotel continues to further expand its help to the community by helping PLMSFI scholars in need.
“We realize that in these difficult times; education cannot be ignored. Just as we hope to have a better future, we provide help to these talented people. Just like the vision of PLMSFI, we believe that no student can be deprived of it. College education! There is an old Chinese saying, “Be happy for an hour and take a nap; be happy for a day and go fishing. Be happy for a year and inherit wealth. “If you want a lifetime of happiness, then help others. The true happiness is found in helping others.” Mr. Edmundo added. PLMSFI was established in August 1998 by a group of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) graduates with a bachelor’s degree. It aims to maintain and promote the PLM model university logo for the disadvantaged groups and students with lower intellectual levels in Manila. As of today, PLMSFI has fifty (50) scholar beneficiaries. Their goal in the next five years is to double or more the number of scholars, which will be possible if they can get more sustainable donations.
“Even before the pandemic, many poor or low-income families in the country had major loopholes. They had difficulty paying school fees and lacked the resources to pay for emergency expenses. In the current epidemic, all we need is care. We need more sensitivity. . We need more people to care about each other; we should not let this epidemic overwhelm children and young people’s desire and desire for education to be energetic. Action can really create hope,” said the director of Eurotel.
