‘Tinadhana Sa ‘Yo’ By Zephanie Showcases Her Acting But Not Her Singing
To be fair, the music video was decent. However, the song is not, since the melody is quite boring and it does not really talk about something new when it comes to falling for a friend. It is to general. I would not call it bad writing but rather lazy writing.
As far as I know, Zephanie, aside from “Asia’s Phoenix” Morissette Amon, is the only other Filipina singer below 25 years old who actually has a lot of international fans. By a lot, I mean, they leave comments on her Instagram and YouTube videos and state which countries they are from.
Zephanie can belt and can convey a plethora of emotions with her powerful voice. However, she was made to sing here what even Yasmin Asistido could perform quite decently. Unless you have lost your ears totally, the song is so easy, too easy and simple for a talent like hers.
The production design and the cinematography of the video are pleasing to the eye. However, they do not really jive with the message of the song.
My favorite part of the video was when Zephanie was playing coy with the lifeless Ken doll lookalike and when a single tear flowed out of her eye. As for the song itself, it is as bland as a a bond paper or an unseasoned turkey.
