The Bobby Tamayo Murder Case: What We Know So Far

When Mary Ann Tamayo got up from her bed, scrubbing her eyes wearily, as she wondered whether kids are throwing rocks at her roof at such an ungodly hour, or maybe she had dreamed it, she realized that it must be real because her husband, Bobby, is nowhere to be found.

But, no sooner than she had taken the first step when a barrage of noises followed. There was a crash, the sound of splintering wood as their front door was literally wrecked open by two armed men.

By the time the shots were fired from the .45 guns they were carrying, Mary Ann, also known as Meann to some close to her, already found herself in the front of their bedroom door. Her legs felt like jelly. It is the witching hour after all, the time between 3am and 4am, which superstitious people say is the time when devils roam the earth. Here are two in front of her. It was as if time was at a standstill.

One shot, two shots, the two masked men with large builds who wore jackets pumped lead into the indie actor mercilessly, her dearly beloved husband. There was no hesitation or fear in their actions. All had gone according to plan. They had asked a couple of kids a few days before where Bobby’s residence is. The CCTVs were covered. The neighbors were too afraid to meddle since there were three men standing guard outside. Oh yes, this was not just a violent crime, this was impunity. The men did not even bother to look at her after the deed was done. They had eradicated their target.

As she looked at her husband’s eyes which had now gone blank, she realized that there is no point rushing him to the hospital anymore. There was no soul in that body and there was blood on the floor.

This author had met Bobby in 2015. She is sure of it because his very first message to her on Facebook was a greeting on her birthday. All she knows is that Bobby is a quiet man, dedicated to his craft, and genuinely kind to people around him. He is the type of man not to have any enemies. So what was the motive behind the murder?

It would have been great if the police or the SOCO or whoever can investigate it because it is their job, had arrived within the hour of the incident, which was again, between 3am to 4am of December. I had the chance to talk with Mary Ann around after lunch today and she told me a female individual wearing a SOCO uniform arrived this morning to probe and talk to police officers, who according to my understanding arrived there as well today, December 31. She said that the woman did not even introduce herself or give a calling card, or provide proper identification that she is a member of the SOCO. Being a witness of a violent crime, Mary Ann was also not offered any witness protection program. So, if these men decide to return tonight, she had no specific officer or inspector to call and would instead resort to whether police emergency number she had.

Aside from being known in the short films circle, particularly in CSB Benilde thesis films, he is also active in their community, the Dela Costa 3 subdivision in Brgy. Graceville, San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), Bulacan. This writer was able to confirm this from his fellow board member of the homeowner’s association. Is it possible that Bobby’s name was included in a narco list which made him a target? His wife does not know the answer but all she knows is that Bobby is totally clean and has never used any illegal substances. Sure, he might look a bit to thin to some, which made him perfect for his role in the Villarica Pawnshop commercial as the guy with Parkinson’s disease almost shot by a cop. Did life imitate art?

As you are reading this, Bobby’s body lies in a casket at their residence. He was already transferred from St. Peter’s Sapang Palay, where his body was prepared for the wake.
