NOW Telecom receives a license from the PH government to become the 4th telco
NOW Telecom has just been granted a permit by the Philippine government to be the fourth telco player in the country to rival with PLDT, Globe, and DITO Telecommunity.
Owned by the Velarde family, NOW Telecom Company Inc,. has been granted by the National Telecommunication Commission, last September 14, an extension of its provisional authority that will allow them to install, operate, and maintain a nationwide mobile telecommunications system.
President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act No. 10972 on Feb. 22, 2018 which renewed NOW Telecom’s legislative franchise for another 25 years to engage in the business of providing telecommunications including electronic communications and electronic communications services throughout the Philippines and between the Philippines and other countries and other territories, including outer space.
This will allow the company to put up 4G LTE or even 5G services, and not just limited to 3G..The provisional authority comes with a couple of conditions. One of them is the infusion of at least an additional capital of Php1.9 billion in the first two years. They are also required to accelerate the installation of broadband data services in rural and suburban areas.NOW teams up with Korea’s SK Telecom for 5G rollout
